FlexResponse is a program administered through your smart thermostat to help manage short-term spikes in demand for electricity on hot summer days.

How the Program Works

When you enroll in FlexResponse we will make small adjustments to your thermostat during periods of high electricity demand, also known as control “FlexResponse events”. These events usually occur in the afternoon during the months of June through September. If you experience discomfort, you’ll have the option to opt-out of the FlexResponse event using your thermostat or smartphone application and return to your normal thermostat settings. You will receive a one-time enrollment bill credit of $50 per thermostat (up to four) and an annual $20 bill credit for participating in FlexResponse events. Bill credits will appear within two billing cycles from the date of smart thermostat activation.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must be an NV Energy residential electric customer with central air conditioning, install an authorized smart thermostat, and have a Wi-Fi network. Participants enrolled in FlexResponse agree to let us make small adjustments to their thermostat(s) during periods of high electricity demand, also known as "FlexResponse events.“

How Do I Get Started?

Purchase up to four qualifying Wi-Fi-connected thermostats from the PowerShift Smart Shop and enroll the thermostat(s) in the FlexResponse program. Your enrollment is completed automatically once your eligible thermostat is installed and connected to your manufacturer’s thermostat service. After your device is installed, you will receive a one-time enrollment bill credit of $50 per thermostat (up to four) and an annual $20 bill credit for participating in FlexResponse events. Bill credits will appear within two billing cycles from the date of smart thermostat activation.
