Home Energy Assistance Program

Home Energy Assistance Program

The Home Energy Assistance (HEA) program brought to you by Liberty, in collaboration with the other NHSaves® utility partners, serves New Hampshire’s income-eligible homeowners and renters to help reduce their energy

costs, optimize their homes’ energy performance, and make their homes more comfortable.

The program will cover 100% of the cost to weatherize your home or apartment and replace inefficient equipment. Eligibility is determined by total household income and the number of household members.

The primary goal of the HEA program is to reduce the energy burden of limited-income households, which often incur a significantly higher share of household income from energy costs. How does this work?

Income-eligible customers can call to set up a no-cost, no-obligation comprehensive energy audit to see how we can help.

What's Included?

When we say comprehensive, we mean it. Qualified professionals will check the following and make recommendations for energy efficiency upgrades:

  • Insulation (attics, walls, basement)
  • Air sealing
  • Replacement of inefficient refrigerators
  • Replacement of inefficient heating and water heating systems (boilers, furnaces, water heaters, heat pumps)
  • Installation of ventilation systems, removal of old wiring, and damaged insulation
  • Program covers up to $15,000 in energy efficiency improvements per home or multi-family unit with no cost from the customer
  • Services available to single and multifamily residences
  • Renters can ask their landlords to inquire for EE upgrades to their buildings

**We are able to serve multi-family properties if at least 50% of the tenants are receiving or eligible for low income or similar benefits.

Let us find areas of improvement for your home or apartment when you schedule your no-obligation energy audit.

What's In It for You?

How else can the HEA program benefit you?

  • Covers the cost of home improvements for electric and natural gas customers
  • Provides practical solutions for modifying home and equipment energy use
  • May provide services to address health and safety barriers in the home, such as inadequate ventilation, old wiring, and damaged insulation, if the energy efficiency project is deemed as cost-effective
